Performance
Beth enjoys playing a wide range of repertoire in many different styles, dating from the 15th to the 21st century. She is especially interested in both Early Italian and High Baroque repertoire from Italy, Germany, and France, and enjoys transporting the modern audience back to these periods in history.

As an active member of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Historical Performance Department, Beth regularly performs in a variety of set ups, ranging from solo recorder and continuo to larger works for recorders, dulcians, cornetts and sackbuts. Performance highlights include appearances at festivals such as the London International Festival of Early Music and the Birmingham International Recorder and Early Music Festival, where she has given performance demonstrations and been part of a 70-piece recorder orchestra. Concerts at various historical venues around the West Midlands include Aston Hall and Greyfriars’ House and Gardens.

Beth is accustomed to performing on period instruments and is regularly heard playing Renaissance consort recorders made by Adrian Brown. Events based around Historical Performance have also included performances showcasing Medieval recorders and tabor pipes by Tim Cranmore.

Through exploring a range of contemporary styles, Beth has become increasingly interested in compositions inspired by Eastern Asian culture and works featuring rhythmical and percussive elements, often through the use of electronic setups including tape, reverb or delay. Coaching from Susanne Fröhlich and Bart Spanhove led to Beth immersing herself in the sound worlds of Japanese and Israeli music, whereby she demonstrates the true versatility and subtleties of the recorder through solo performance and works for 8+ recorders. In 2021 Beth commissioned Touch for solo recorder, a graphic score by Catherine Mole which explores the different sounds that can be produced by performing with the recorder in non-conventional ways.
For over 10 years, Beth has performed for primary school productions in mixed ensembles of various sizes, providing for many children their first opportunity to perform with live musicians and to encounter classical instruments. She also has over 16 years experience within the wider performing arts, having performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Sadler's Wells, Her Majesty’s Theatre and PortAventura World, Barcelona, alongside stars from stage and screen. Such performances have led Beth to feel very at home on stage.
